New
Rust
The
project ‘New Rust’ attempts to find the place
of traditional drawing within the processes of contemporary
art where a drawn element is not an end in itself but a part
of the whole. ‘New figurative shards’ embedded
in an abstract landscape of rusted roof metal address the
viewer partly to a picture by an anonymous artist who tends
to see the outlines of nature in the rust and partly to an
art object. The consciously created confusion reflects, in
the opinion of the artists, a blurring of the boundaries of
current times and the confused condition of the visible in
modern times, the deficit of simplicity in the overloaded
complexity of the here and now acts here as a metaphor of
the state of contemporary society.
